Fix a tap which isn't working properly
Your plumber will isolate the water supply, disassemble the tap and fix it if he has the parts available with him.Taps which have handles which turn round and round have washers which are easily replaced.But many modern taps have ceramic valves instead of washers. You can identify these taps because the handles just turn through one quarter of a turn (or are lifted up and down). Ceramic valves are harder to replace because they are not a standard size, and taps often have no markings to identify the manufacturer. It can sometimes be cheaper to replace the whole tap in one visit, rather than try and source a replacement valve and return on a second visit to fit it. So if you have a faulty tap with a ceramic valve consider purchasing a new tap and booking a tap replacement.
